Dacorum Extended Access service is for patients in Dacorum and is organised and operated by the Local Federation, Dacorum Health Providers (DHP), who employ clinical, administrative and reception staff to run this service. This was launched in June 2018.
We are pleased to host this service at Highfield Surgery. The receptionist will not have any access to prescriptions/letters or results from Highfield Surgery.
Appointments can ONLY be booked and cancelled via the surgery you are registered with and is not a drop in service.
The Surgery now provides extended opening hours in response to patient wishes and to allow patients greater choice to see their GPs outside of normal working hours.
Extended Hours Times:
Tuesday | 6.30pm - 7.30pm |
Friday | 6.30pm - 7.30pm |
These clinics are held once a month - appointments only. Please ask at reception for the dates as they will vary.
Urgent problems will always be seen within 24 hours, although it may not be with your usual or preferred doctor. We can also offer a telephone appointment if you wish to speak with the doctor on an urgent matter.
Please ring the usual surgery number 01442 265322.
If you are unable to keep an appointment please let us know as soon as possible so that the appointment can be offered to someone else. It would be great to give at least 1 hour notice so that this can be used again.
We offer telephone consultations as an alternative to visiting the surgery and you may find this a more convenient way to talk with your doctor.
If you would like to book a telephone appointment please contact the surgery the day before or on that morning before 12pm. The doctor will then call you back between 11.00am - 3.00pm that day.
If you would like to speak with a particular doctor you will be advised when they are next in clinic.
If you are phoning for results or are responding to a message that has been left asking you to make a telephone appointment, you can speak to the duty doctor or if you prefer to speak to a particular doctor you will be advised when they are next in the surgery.
Whenever possible please request home visits before 11.00am.
Be prepared to give brief details of the problem so that we can assess the urgency of the visit. Please remember that visits are only for patients who are too ill to attend surgery or are housebound. It is appreciated if patients can attend surgery if at all possible. This makes best use of the doctors’ time and we have all the necessary equipment for examinations. It will not always be possible to see the doctor of your choice if you request a home visit.
Call 111 when you need medical help fast but it’s not a 999 emergency.
